Introducing the Goldshell LB-BOX
The miner we're going to unbox today is Goldshell's LB-BOX.
First, the specs:
- Hashrate of 175GH/s
- Power consumption of 162 W
Like the rest of the Goldshell BOX series, the LB-BOX consumes low power and is quiet and light.
The currency mined is: LBC.
The other BOX miners are:
- Goldshell Mini-DOGE (Litecoin and Dogecoin)
- Goldshell KD-BOX (Mining Kadena)
- Goldshell CK-BOX (Mining Nervos Network)
- Goldshell HS-BOX (Mining Handshake)
- Goldshell SC-BOX (Mining Siacoin)
Edit: Goldshell has since released these new upgrades to existing models in the BOX series:
They are all the same size, approximately the same weight, and made for home miners.
LBC (LBRY Credits) was founded in 2016. It experienced massive all-time-highs in the 2017 bull run. Followed by silence...until 2021. It is a content sharing platform on which artists, writers and creators can share their work and earn royalties. Users can pay creators with LBC to enjoy music and video content.
Profitability
Let's take a look at the income. It looks like LBRY Credits run is over this year. It never reached its all-time-highs of $1.60 (four years ago), reaching only $0.397. We're mining around 4 LBRY Credits a day, meaning a potential $1.60/day if we reach all time highs of this cycle again. Check the current profitability here.
This is a risky miner! We'd only recommend it if you're following the LBRY project and believe it has potential.
Teardown
The chassis is an aluminum alloy. It is small, light, and can be held with one hand.
The LB-BOX (and all other BOX models) has a heat sink on the back.
For repair consideration, it's easy to dismantle the miner. You can unscrew the back and take the hashboard out.
It's easy to put back together as well. Let's get mining!
How to mine LBC with the LB-BOX
We're going to use dxpool.io to mine.
After creating an account at dxpool and getting the pool information, we go to Goldshell's interface:
We can enter the following:
Pool/URL:lbc.ss.dxpool.com:8866 User/Worker:DxPool [your account name].[your worker name] Password: [your password]
NOTE: worker name is optional
Remember to submit your wallet address for payouts. For LBC we recommend the official desktop wallet
After running the miner for a while, we can see the hashrate is 178Gh/s, slightly above the advertised 175Gh/s.
The temperature of the front, where miner draws air in, is 29.6 °C (85 °F)
The temperature of the back, where the hot air comes out, is 41.6 °C (107 °F)
The power consumption is 166.2 W.
And the noise is 47db. This is somewhere between ambient home noise and conversation noise.
We applaud Goldshell for continuing to innovate with lightweight miners and different altcoins. The decision to buy this miner or not completely rests with your conviction in LBRY Credits. It could be a fantastic deal if you want to stack LBC, especially as price goes below $400.
